You book your flights separately, but we've already worked out the sensible way to do it — here are our recommended routes, airlines and timings for this trip.
This 2-week tour begins in Fukuoka and ends in Tokyo, so we recommend an open-jaw (multi-city) booking: fly into Fukuoka, fly home from Tokyo.
No need to backtrack.

London Heathrow or Gatwick give you the widest choice of one-stop routes.
Regional departures from Manchester, Edinburgh and others airports are possible but usually add a connection — ask us if you'd prefer one.
Carriers we recommend
Korean Air
Reliable one-stop via Seoul, bags checked through, sensible connection times.
Cathay Pacific
One-stop via Hong Kong, excellent service, good for travellers who value comfort.
KLM
One-stop via Amsterdam, convenient for regional UK departures and through-checked baggage.

Aim for one stop with no self-transfer. This means that your bags will be checked through and the airline protects the connection.
Typical total journey from the UK is about 15–18 hours.

Consider arriving in Fukuoka a night before the tour starts to shake off jet lag and guarantee you're there in good time. We can book you into the same room you'll be staying in on the first night of the tour
Typical economy return fares are around £850–£1,250 per person.
We must stress that this is indicative only, subject to availability and change.
On the way out: From Heathrow you'll usually depart Terminal 3 for these carriers — allow extra time at security in the morning peak.
Coming back: Tokyo has two airports (Haneda/HND and Narita/NRT). Haneda is closer to the city; most people prefer it for the return where the fare difference is small.
International flights are booked separately and booked directly with the airline. The recommendations on this page are guidance to help you choose; fares are indicative and subject to availability and change. We don't sell flights or guarantee fares.
