Come and enjoy an extraordinary experience in the heart of Mount Shigisan, where time seems to stand still. By spending the night in a Buddhist monastery, you will have the opportunity to soak up the serenity of the place, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

  1. Stay in an authentic monastery Shigisan Monastery, a place of ancestral spiritual practice, offers a calm atmosphere conducive to meditation. You will stay in a simple but comfortable room, where tranquillity and serenity reign supreme. Every detail of this place has been designed to promote contemplation and inner peace.

  2. Practise Zen meditation Upon arrival, you will be introduced to the practice of Zen meditation (zazen). This form of meditation, highly prized by Japanese monks, will allow you to refocus and find deep inner peace. You will be guided by the monks in this mindfulness experience, allowing you to free your mind and achieve a state of absolute calm.

  3. Traditional ceremonies and chants Attend traditional Buddhist ceremonies, where monks chant mantras and pray for peace and harmony. These moments of contemplation are touchingly beautiful and filled with spirituality. The rhythm of the chants and bells will envelop you in an atmosphere that is both soothing and mystical.

  4. Authentic vegetarian meals The meals served at the monastery follow the tradition of shōjin ryōri, a vegetarian cuisine that emphasises simplicity and harmony of ingredients. Prepared with care, these meals are an invitation to savour the beauty of nature and nourish the body while respecting the principles of Buddhist spirituality.

  5. Hiking in the surrounding nature The monastery is located in the heart of nature, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and forests. Take the opportunity to go hiking in the surrounding area and reconnect with the natural beauty of Japan. It is a perfect time for reflection and contemplation, far from the distractions of the modern world.
